| Jim “Smiddy” began his judo training in 1980. He received his black belt in 1985 at St. Ninians Judo Club in Greenock Scotland under the instruction of Joe Docherty (6th Dan). Jim also trained with the Scottish and Austrian national team coaches (George Kerr, 9th Dan; Dave Starbrook 9th Dan and Olympic Silver and Bronze Medalist; Peter Seisenbracher, two times Olympic Gold Medalist).
Jim moved from Scotland to Temecula in February 2000 with his wife and four children. His other hobbies include MMA, golfing, and hiking.
Jim’s Motto is to treat all people the same regardless of race, creed or color.
